Generic Drugs vs The Average American

I can't be the only one flabbergasted and shocked as I read the New York Times news article on generic drugs proving resistant to damage suits.

The average American who buys a generic drug in place of a brand name drug is someone who can't afford the additional price tag a brand name drug brings. It is then this average American who is left undefended when he loses a limb or an intestine. We aren't talking about someone getting a rash from an allergic reaction to a medication here, we're talking debilitating life changes.

Until now, I never knew I would give up my right to lawfully sue a drug company if they caused me irreparable harm through the use of a generic drug. Did you?
